Bromide

Hi! This week's concept is a Bromide. Here's a bit of the description: "This is a humanoid 'civilized' race.. They come in various 'weights', but tend to be tall, thin and agile. While not a very aggressive society, they have developed weapons and a intricate form of martial arms that utilizes their natural weapons. The Bromide race should be a plant based, or plant influenced race."

Well, a lot went on this. I imagined his past story and created the basic shapes as follows: The spiritual fire on top of their heads begins short after birth. At first pale orange, it grows redder as the Bromide grows. As adults, they don't show any signs of old age, except for the fire becoming paler and finally extinguishing itself on death. They age much slower than humans and they lifespan exceeds our on many decades. The natural weapon they posses are the powerful tendrils coming from the back of their arms (sharing the triceps tendon) and they use it to many tasks, including battle, and grabbing, much like spider monkey's prehensile tail. I had a great time doing this one. Hope you enjoy!

Construct

Hi! This time the concept is of a creature which is called a "Construct". Constructs resemble more wild animals than humanoids, but are made of pieces of gear, iron, blades, armour and also bits of stone and crystal. On this I tried more for the overall feeling of the machinery and scale. Constructs are also Golems, that according to Jewish folklore, are artificial mythical beings, brought to life through magic. According to the stories, having a Golem as a servant was considered as the most elevated symbol of wisdom and sanctity. The tiny figure near the creature was added for a better sense of scale. Speed painting 2H.

Orcus Pet

Hi everyone! This time I tried a concept sketch. Here is a bit of the description: "They say that our pets reflect their owners - in looks and temperament... what kind of pet would Orcus have? Would he be the kind of bad ass that would have a the underworlds version of a pit bull...or a poodle?". Since Orcus is a powerful God of the Underworld, I figured he should have a powerful pet. I initially tought of a tiger, which is both powerful and agile, with a demonic twist. I then developed the huge paws and fangs , with a bifurcated tongue, giving a bit of reptilian coldness to it.

Matte Painting

To contrast with the weather in Rio I created this (first attempt) matte painting. I really had fun doing it, and I guess I`ll invest a little more time on this kind of painting. See ya!

Salamander

And so the year is gone... It was a very prolific year. I produced a lot and learned a lot also. I`d like to thank everyone who ever commented or read something around here. Your support is very important for me to keep going.
The only sad note of the year is that my father passed away last week and left a hollow in my life that will never be filled. I`ll miss you a lot Dad. This post is for you!
